Ive just come across your youtube account, fantastic clear demostrations 😊 thank you so much subscribed
Thanks and welcome!
great teacher and great assistant!
Спасибо!!!
И на русском раз, два, три....
Often, I take a 6 then lunge, but my opponent keeps on doing this prime. How do I counter that?
Maybe you can now anticipate the prime parry and do an immediate fork thrust before the riposte, as a sort of 2nd intention action?
brilliant, thank you! helps a ton!!
I'm glad the referee also acknowledged him for that, very nice to see.
What a nice man
This was amazingly well taught! Thanks!
Very nice!
I was just thinking about footwork progression to improve the explosiveness of the step lunge. Glad to have stumbled on this video 😊
Brilliant approach, merci et bravo maestro.
What’s the biomechanics behind this exercise? What a great idea. It does feel nice and encourages to “kick out”. Thanks.
It encourages the movement of the lunge to start from the heel rather than the hip or the knee, otherwise the coin stays in place. This should mean a quicker kick out!
Yes ladies gentlemen! ;) Beth Davidson is famous! 😃 Full stop! 😃
How did u record the video?
Sir the sound of you is very low
What is the second parry? The first is clearly high Prime, the third Low Quarte and the last looks like Low Tierce but could be low Sixte. I've been taught the angle of the wrist would make it High Septime and then protected quadrant would reinforce that but the line would make it High Sixte, but I learned High Sixte differently.
We had a big discussion at the course as well. Our conclusion was sexte parry.
Best move i ever saw. Rip Simon Toyne
Just need a foil version for my hip....
They should be ok for all weapons. It’s about balance and controlling momentum. Do left and right handed versions

Nice 👍
I m bela’s student
An excellent lesson. I especially liked the preparatory exercises.
Отличный урок! Благодарю
Another great video
Never thought I’d enter fencing youtube, but here we are.
It is a change from cat videos 😁
Great example could you do it in foil?
Hi. We are attending the epee coach course so not able at this time.
great move and a lot of epee fencers can be perplexed about what you are doing!
В бою это всё бессмысленные действия, которые пробиваются на ура
We practice what our master says
Это не правда. Часто бывают!
Awesome demo!
great video!
another great video!
Great
Hi bela How r u I m Rony from bangladesh Do u remember me?
I will ask Bela! Where did you meet?

💯👏👏
Bravo!
Superb, thanks for posting these Beth. The FIE should really have videoed all this stuff and made it available to those of us who couldn't take three months out for the course!
Thanks Neil! This was my goal when I got the opportunity! Lots more to follow!
@@Bethspeedy yay! Definitely looking forward to it. Anything foil specific would be great too, although anything is super useful!
Very nice explanation. Thank you.
You are welcome!
Wire and clothes peg? Only for lazy epeists, I presume. Just do a sporty sabre squat every time you pick up the coin! 😂
Epeeist should kick the coin and then make a hit with the epee to catch it again!
Great video - thanks!
Glad it helped!
This is great Beth. It would be great to see more of this kind of thing.
Thank you! It is my aim to publish every day subject to my editing skills! If there is anything specific you would like to see I can try to oblige!
@@Bethspeedy Any footwork stuff is great. Footwork is everything!!
A classic exersise, I like the addition of wire and clothes peg. I've spend many hours chasing coins all around the Salle!
Yes its a costly business at times! :-)
For the fencer's parry (8th) to be effective, the forearm should not be lowered. The point is sufficient to use the guard and the forte of the blade. I agree with Donald, if I parry 2 I keep the hand in pronation and I have the choice of targets, the belly, the thigh, the foot to riposter. The 2 is a strong parry but the fencer often tends to move the elbow back. Moreover, tilting the chest forward risks increasing the imprecision of the riposte. With the 8th I can look to hit the chest, stomach, thigh and foot, my point doesn't leave the targets like the 2nd might. when I show these positions to my students and apprentice fencing masters I show them how to use the joint lock of the 8th
Such an invaluable lesson.
I think I recognize the coach from an old VHS or DVD. Where was this?
